York Blind and Partially Sighted Society is a local charity providing information, practical help and support for visually impaired people and their carers. Click on the menu on the left for more information.

We provide the following services:

  • An Equipment and Information Centre where you can try out and purchase over 200 pieces of equipment
  • An Eye Clinic Service providing information and support at York Hospital Eye Clinic Outpatients Department
  • A Volunteer Visiting Service giving support to people in their own homes
  • A Telephone Help-Line on 01904 636269
  • A Newsletter available in large print, tape, CD, Braille and e-mail
  • An Information Pack with details of local and national services, benefits information and practical advice
  • A support Group for people with Macular Degeneration
  • Activities – these vary but include a Book Group,¬†Knitting Group and Exercise Class
  • Computer Training
  • Eccentric Vision Training
